I remember there was a cold day; I went to the nightmarket after the end of my final project. I was so hungry and tired that time. The hot soup with Chinese angelica makes me feel better. I was talking with my friends. Then the vendor joined us. He told us many experience about life and travel. This makes me a deep impression, because we seldom have interaction with the vendors in the nightmarket and he was the first one.

My special experience in Taiwan Nightmarket is the auction in the Taiwan Nightmarket. The seller sells lots of little stuffs such as toys, clothes, and etc. They are all relatively cheaper than we can imagine. The seller has a silver tongue such that lots of people are attracted to see what he sells and how he sells it. The whole process is interesting. Of course, the seller usually sells lots of stuffs and makes money.

The Nightmarket is one of the most special cultures in Taiwan. In particular, going to the Nightmarket with lots of friends to eat and have fun is interesting things to do. Sometimes you may go there yourself. My idea is that can we use computer technology to vividly communicate with those who have no time to go with us through cell phones while scrolling the Nightmarket and bring delicious food to them or share the feelings with them?

There are too many people in the Nightmarket that I can only move without my willing, and my feet even couldn't reach the ground.

In the nightmarket, I found two things that were interesting to me. First, I walked into the nightmarket. The booths on my left or right hand side, they tried to ask me to come to their booths. Most of people in the booth, they were staring at me. It made me so uncomfortable. Beside, there was fried chicken booth. The booth asked me to take a plastic bag first. After that, I had to line up. If I didn't have a plastic bag, the booth would not sell me a piece of fried chicken. In this time, the booth used a plastic bag to symbolize a piece of fried chicken. Once you got a plastic bag, you could get a piece of fried chicken. As all mentioned above, these were what I saw in the nightmarket.

Due to the embarrassing situation, I had to pretend to look around, and not to notice what they did to me. I left my mind empty. Because of this situation, I knew that they tried to promote their food to me, so I didn't know how to choose them. Then, what should I do was that I had to walk down to other booth and bought something. In this time, I chose the booth that I liked and I felt comfortable. They didn't stare at me anymore. This was the way that I wanted. And, I didn't feel embarrassed by myself. Also, you might face a problem in the fried chicken booth. If you wanted to buy thirty pieces of fried chicken, you had to take thirty plastic bags. The people behind you would think you were a crazy guy. And they would hate you. I might hide my plastic bags in my packet or bag until I lined up to the front. When the booth called me, I would show the thirty bags that I had. And, I would turn around and say sorry to other customers. This was not my fault!

As we know, night markets always have some street vendors that need to hide the police. Those vendors always not only greet with customers, but increase their attention when the police come. I once picked up clothes on the stand; unexpectedly the vendor heard that the police might come. The vendor quickly took his things away, while I still stayed and held the clothes I picked up...

I once roam in the night market, even though my feet were getting tired. In order to buy things that have reasonable price, we bargain with the boss to cut price down!! This process is interesting!! Seller and buyer both have their thoughtful consideration. Sometimes, buyers make friends with sellers!!

The popular actions are eating and buying in the night market. There are lots of extemporary games that do not exist at daytime. At night, people get together without make an appointment and interact with others. Bosses in the night market standing at the top of the ladder call out and try to get notice from guests. This seems like a good performance. His amplifier or speakerphone makes his advertisement more successful. Maybe the point of recreation could be "call out and interaction". The interaction of psychology between buyers and sellers is also interesting. They bargain with each other over the price, until the end of making a deal. In this process, they have many actions and skill for cutting price and emotion (especially one of the most important factors).

The game of netting the gold fish can change into the game of "netting whale", and become a big scale version. Because "the whale" is too big (not like the gold fish), people need to drag whale away and get one point!!

The light show in the night market is also an interesting point. Each stand has each light to highlight their stand. Depending on different products among these stands, there will create conflict aesthetics. The light in the night market combines various styles and forms a unique night market light show.

Outside the elite bookstore, there are various vendors, such as some craftsmen selling stuff what they make or what they like. This special "nightmarket" are famous with these creative vendors and high quality stuff being able to show customers' personality. In my junior year, I was one of them with my classmates to make jewels, such as earrings and necklaces, to sell. In such a "special" nightmarket we escape from police, compete for the best location; promote what we make, make friends with other. This makes a special experience in my junior year and we earn everything but money.

People in the nightmarket often eat local food or pick up special stuff. It would be interesting if I have a booth that can reflect people's feeling. One comes to my place and eats noodles. If he/she thinks they are delicious, my booth will change the shape or even diffuse fragrance to represent what he/she feels. The shape of the booth might become a signal for people and influence other people's choices and feelings.

My first and very impressive experience of night market is booth boss. There are various types of boss, some bosses shout for special sales, others maybe quite, but most of all are doing psychological games. e.g. a necklace maybe priced for NT$200, and NT$99 for discount; they may said that is cheap enough to killing them to death. But if we still hang on the price like NT$79, they will titter at you, "That's impossible, I've already broken for it.", while we pretend go away for that, they will shout you stop and sell you about NT$89. If we still insist to go way, they will sold you NT$ 79 for even. But we turn to another lane; we still find out the necklace only sells NT$59!!! That means the boss still earned NT$20, and we are fools! Anyway, the psychology of bid and buy is very interesting and this is what I think the appealing power of night market.

I want to do an interaction of shouting. Shouting from two sources, one is boss and another one is customer, while the sounds are louder, the echo will be louder like everyone is helping you. Maybe a song like 阮來去徆夜市仔~~, and keeps it louder. It maybe like an invisible horn, with keywords like "cheaper", it will give "Cheaper, Cheaper, Cheaper (Echo)". "No, It is the bottom line", it will give "Kill me Kill me Kill me".

In the nightmarket, besides good food and cheap things to buy, watching people is also an interesting thing to do. You can see the latest fashion and look at the people you've never met in a very close position.
Your idea to make the Nightmarket experience more fun: Not everyone go to the nightmarket, for example professors and some serious people, food and games in the nightmarket might not be appealing to them. I totally agree with the nightmarket=Taiwan idea, the spirit of nightmarket is the lively atmosphere. It would be so cool if we can make more people to relate to nightmarket, and enjoy the party together.

I brought my clients from Russia to nightmarket and find that they are very excited to explore in the market. Therefore, I realize that nightmarket is a special local feature, which is very attractive to foreigners.
If we can add more information in English and add more Chinese/ Taiwanese architecture and shop design, we may attract many foreign visitors in Taiwan.
